Storbåt Tacksamheten

Tacksamheten is a modern version of a working boat, with minimal carbon footprint and environmental impact.
The hull shape is based on the traditional Market/Cargo boat model of the Archipelago Sea, simply known as Storbåt. The central cabin is a replica of the same era’s fish-buying boats. These boats were in use in archipelago communities from the 16th century until the early 1900s.

Built in Nauvo in 1825, the Storbåt named Tacksamheten served as inspiration for the boat’s name. Tacksamheten is CE certified and registered for 12 passengers.

Detailed construction blogs and photos of the boat can be found at the BUILDING BLOG link.

OUR VALUES

In addition to traditional building methods and materials, we have made conscious decisions for the environment. Our responsible practices have enabled us to obtain the Green Start responsible tourism certificate. In early 2022, we joined the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) program. We are also a partner of the Finnish Forest Administration and the Biosphere Reserve.

MISSION STATEMENT

We are sailing in a beautiful island setting utilising and preserving the conditions provided by mother nature.

RECYCLING

We recycle pretty much everything

WATER SYSTEMS ONBOARD

The boat is equipped with a toilet with seawater flush. Wastewater goes into a septic tank, which cannot be emptied into the sea. Only suction emptying is possible. The sink water from the galley is drained into a gray water tank, which is emptied into the sewer.

ENERGY AND POWER ONBOARD

Environmentally friendly and low-emission solutions are achieved through wind power, a modern diesel engine, shore power system, and solar panels.

DIESEL ENGINE

A 3-cylinder, 30hp VETUS diesel was installed in spring 2023. This modern, low-emission diesel replaced the well-functioning Oceanvolt AX8 electric motor. The electric motor’s range became an issue, prompting the change.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS

The boat has a 48V energy system hooked to a 3000W inverter for 230 V, as well as 12V leisure and starter batteries.

SOLAR PANELS

12V solar panels are installed on the cabin roof. These panels keep the leisure battery in good condition and allow the use of the fridge and all electronics without worries.
